Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that 5 people were killed in 3 separate vehicle-related collisions in the valley, and surrounding environs of Las Vegas Saturday, Oct. 15th. The 1st incident occurred when Henderson police responded to the scene of a reported collision between a Jeep Liberty and a Dodge pickup at the intersection of Russell Road and Stephanie Street at around 11:00 p.m. According to an initial report by the Henderson Police Department, the Jeep Liberty was heading east on Russell Road when it left the roadway, crossed over the median, and collided with the Dodge pickup that was traveling in the westbound lanes of Russell Road.

The Jeep rolled over onto its roof and became engulfed in flames. Fire and Rescue arrived too late to extricate the driver and passenger from the Jeep. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was transported by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by hospital staff. A family member of the Dodge pickup driver identified him as George Botello, of Henderson. Botello was a husband and father of 2 with a 3rd child due in November.

The 2nd fatal accident involved a pedestrian-vehicle collision just west of the Strip Saturday evening. According to Metro Police, the auto-pedestrian crash occurred about 11 p.m. at the intersection of West Flamingo and Lindell Road. A 69-year old pedestrian was struck by a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 about 140 feet west of the marked crosswalk of the Lindell-Flamingo intersection. He was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center where he was succumbed to his injuries and pronounced dead by hospital staff a short time later. The pickup driver remained on scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

The 3rd fatal accident involved a motorcycle-auto collision that left the motorcyclist dead on East Sahara Avenue in the central part of Las Vegas early Sunday morning. Officers were called to a reported vehicle accident at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Van Patten Street around 1:41 a.m. Sunday evening. According to officers the crash occurred when a Hyundai Tucson was making a turn at the intersection and struck a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Sahara Avenue. The motorcycle rider was ejected from his bike upon impact with the Hyundai and was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. The motorcyclist is believed to be a 25-year old man from Henderson. Authorities said the driver of the Hyundai passed a field sobriety test and the 3 passengers of the vehicle were not injured in the collision.
