Two officers were involved in a fatal accident Wednesday night. They did not appear to be responding to an emergency call. The call they responded to was described as non urgent.
The driver lost control of the car.
It was a single car accident.
Officer Milburn Beitel, 30, died as a result o the injuries sustained in the accident.
A second officer is in critical condition.
The accident occurred at Washington Avenue and Nellis Bouldevard.
The cruiser was traveling on Nellis when a car pulled out. The cruiser tried to avoid the car, hit a pole, rolled over, and burst into flames.
Several accidents have occurred at this intersection.
