Pedestrian in Critical Condition following Crash in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the identity of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle and later listed in critical condition Wednesday evening, March 11th. The incident occurred shortly before 10:00 P.M. near the intersection of South Eastern Avenue and East Rochelle Avenue. Evidence at the scene indicates that a 2018 BMW X5 was negotiating a left turn from East Rochelle Avenue traveling northbound on South Eastern Avenue with a green traffic signal.
At the same time, the pedestrian, identified as 39-year old Christina Hern from Henderson, was standing on a raised median outside of a marked crosswalk. That’s when the Hern entered into the path of the oncoming BMW and was struck. Hern was transported by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and was initially listed in critical condition. The driver of the BMW was identified as 20-year old Kairan Zhou of Las Vegas. Zhou remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Zhou did not display any signs of impairment according to authorities. This collision remains under investigation of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments Collision Investigation Section.
