Las Vegas Metropolitan police department is investigating a fatal collision that killed 1 pedestrian near Rainbow Boulevard and Washington Avenue Monday night, Mar. 26th. Metro Police officers responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Washington Boulevard just after 8:00 p.m. Citing evidence from the initial investigation and witness statements, a male pedestrian was standing in the center 2-way turn lane on Rainbow Boulevard some 780 feet north of the designated cross walk.

A 2008 GMC Envoy was traveling northbound on Rainbow Boulevard coming toward the intersection just as the male pedestrian was crossing eastbound he was struck by the SUV. The 48-year old man was transported via ambulance to University Medical Center when he was pronounced dead a short time after arriving. LVMPD investigators say that the driver of the GMC Envoy remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. Speed or impairment does not seem to be a factor in this accident said LVMPD Lt. Auten. Rainbow Boulevard was closed from from Vegas Drive to Washington Avenue as detective conducted their investigation. The case is ongoing.
