Las Vegas, NV (October 1, 2018) – A 59-year-old Las Vegas resident died Monday, October 1st, while hospitalized from injuries he sustained three days earlier, in a five-vehicle crash in the central valley, Clark County coroner’s office officials said. Las Vegas police said the crash occurred the Friday before at around noon at South Rainbow Boulevard and West Hacienda Avenue. According to officials, a Toyota van traveling southbound on Rainbow Boulevard was struck by a Lexus sedan turning left on northbound Rainbow Boulevard with a flashing yellow light.

The collision sent the Lexus into two other vehicles, including the Honda of the deceased, identified as Reza Seyed Akhavan. The Lexus and Akhavan’s Honda were then struck by a fifth vehicle before stopping near the intersection, concluding the crash sequence. One person was seriously injured, and another in unknown condition, police said. The crash marks the Metropolitan Police Department’s 106th fatality of this year.
