Las Vegas, CA (October 4, 2018) – Detectives are investigating a crash in the southeast valley that left an 80-year-old man with serious injuries Thursday morning, October 4th, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said. Officers responded to the intersection of East Flamingo Road and Boulder Highway early that morning at around 1 a.m., when a Toyota Camry struck an elderly man crossing the street, identified as Khalil Elshadhed. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 48-year-old Anthony Rodriguez, was driving northbound on Boulder Highway.

Elshadhed was transported to a local hospital, determined to be in critical condition, Las Vegas police said. Rodriguez remained at the scene during police investigations. Officials do not believe that alcohol or drug use was a factor in the crash, and said that Elshadhed was crossing the street against a red crossing signal. While investigations were underway, portions of Flamingo Road, Boulder Highway, and Nellis Boulevard were closed.
