An elderly man traveling down Las Vegas Boulevard Tuesday afternoon stuck another elderly man, who is in critical condition.

The 79-year-old man who was hit was reported taking a lengthy amount of time crossing the intersection, and the light had changed. The rest of the cars at the intersection where still waiting for him, however, except for the 82-year-old driver who drove through the man.

Las Vegas Police are reporting that the elderly driver was clearly not fit for driving, and had no business being on the road. “My officers told me, he was out of it, and probably should not have been driving.” said Sargent Tim Bedwell, “If you’re impaired, you definitely shouldn’t be driving.”

Residents who live in the area commented that the intersection is often a dangerous place, as motorists rarely check adequately for pedestrians crossing the road.

At this time the elderly driver has not been formally charged with any crime, as an investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

The victim was sent to University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
