The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a serious crash in west Las Vegas that hospitalized 4 people, leaving a 27-year old Las Vegas woman in critical condition, Tuesday night, Dec. 5th. The crash occurred at 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Pennwood Avenue, when a Mercury Grand Marquis, that was speeding southbound on Decatur Boulevard, ran a red light at Penwood Avenue. The Mercury collided with a Honda Civic in the intersection and then subsequently struck a pole. The driver of the Mercury, 27-year old Anthony Gibbons of Las Vegas, was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol with substantial bodily harm.

A back seat passenger in the Grand Marquis was critically injured, 27-year-old Tiffany Simmons also of Las Vegas, as was a 2nd passenger of the Mercury who suffered minor injuries. Simmons was rushed by ambulance to University Medical Center and remains hospitalized. The driver of the Honda Civic, a 42-year-old Las Vegas woman, suffered minor injuries, police said. Lane restrictions were in place at the intersection while Metro investigated the crash scene. Authorities did not release any further immediate details about the collision.
