Johaven Gonzales and his family were traveling along US route 60 when their car veered off the road and over the side of a steep cliff. The family members trapped inside the car included his grandmother, pregnant mother and younger sister.
Gonzales called 911 and then scaled the side of the mountain cliff to get help from the police officers, who were searching for the car.
The police officers at the scene reportedly said that because the car was so far down the mountain, they could not see where it had gone and probably would not have found it if Gonzales had not come up to them.
The police were able to remove everyone from the vehicle safely and transport them to the hospital for treatment.
Gonzales said that he was just happy that everyone was able to be transported to safety.
Police officers rewarded him for his bravery by giving him a bike and a Denver Broncos jersey.
